Posting Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE, Schwarzman College of Computing, will work closely with Principal Investigators, Research Scientists, Post-Doctoral Associates, Graduate Students, undergraduate researchers, research sponsors, and external collaborators on ongoing research studies involving assisting in software development, experimental data collection using pre-developed methods, existing tests, and developing new methods for obtaining user feedback and experimental data; be responsible for a variety of back-end and front-end software development assistance, document processing methods and Generative AI methods, and machine learning tasks supporting the research team through all phases of the project; support research activities related to software for an AI-based question-generation system and for software for an AI-based research assistant; assist in performing research experiments in the field of software for AI-based question-generation system for a large-scale document corpora; collect and analyze experimental data; assist Principal Investigator and other collaborators with research tasks; participate and assist in information retrieval and document processing; and participate and assist software developers in developing and using large-language models (LLMs) for project tasks.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science; two years of relevant research experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate or Masters student); demonstrated proficiency in software development for AI-based systems; proficiency with back-end and front-end programming languages and software frameworks such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, LLM and GenAI APIs, AI-based software development platforms, SQL and relational database systems, and MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to present information in small groups and write clear and concise research reports; and ability to work in teams and contribute to group projects.

This position is funded for one year. Extension beyond that is subject to being renewed funding and performance.

This role will be full time in person at MIT CSAIL Cambridge MA.
