Posting Description

TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP SPECIALIST, GORDON ENGINEERING LEADERSHIP (GEL), Technical Leadership and Comm Programs, will apprentice with the instructional team to support undergraduate engineering students’ learning and development in teamwork, communication, leadership, and project engineering skills through experiential learning activities and student developmental coaching; support 3+ courses including “Engineering Leadership Lab” and a short offsite course; provide operation support to weekly Lab, coaching senior year students, maintaining, and improving Lab’s learning activities; support also includes two short-format January courses; assist with developing courses’ design and build project; co-facilitate learning activities in project management; and contribute to GEL’s recruitment, admissions, advising, mentor pairing, and employer relations, interacting regularly with students. Position is targeted at early career candidates.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related field; three years of experience in engineering or in a related technical field; demonstrated experience interacting with students, trainees, or apprentices in a learning or mentoring environment, (e.g. training, coaching or facilitating); demonstrated experience in at least one of: team leadership, project management, or engineering design; and basic project fabrication shop experience (e.g. cutting, drilling, fastening, basic electrical wiring, and lab/shop safety). PREFERRED: Five years of experience in engineering or in related technical field; three years of experience interacting with students, trainees, or apprentices in a learning or mentoring environment, such as through training, coaching or facilitating; demonstrated experience in all of: team leadership, project management, and engineering design; in leadership position in engineering or related field; and in student-facing leader-development coaching, mentoring, or counseling role.

Specific on-site requirements are typically at least 3 days/week.
