Posting Description

MANAGER OF HR AND ADMINISTRATION, Biology, to provide human resources consulting, strategic planning, and operational guidance; develop, direct, and implement strategies, activities, policies, processes, and services designed to meet organizational goals; provide guidance on policies/procedures; analyze complex issues and develop solutions; and ensure compliance with MIT policies, federal, state, and local employee regulations; activities such as workforce planning, organizational design and change management; recruitment, compensation, on-boarding, professional development, and retention; employee/RDTEU labor relations and complaint resolution; oversee faculty promotion and tenure processes; aid in design of reports necessary for effective decision-making, identify trends, and recommend action; facilitate outside professional activities reporting, performance management and annual salary review, rewards and recognition program, and monthly staff meetings; lead project management activities; serve as primary liaison for HR matters as they relate to partner institutions including the Broad, Howard Hughes Medical, Koch, Ragon, and Whitehead institutes; disseminate communications; and supervise direct and indirect reports.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field; minimum of five years of relevant HR/administrative experience, preferably in an academic environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate across all levels; capability to manage multiple competing priorities; aptitude to research solutions and solve complex problems independently; ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion; robust computer skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. PREFERRED: Knowledge of FileMaker/Quickbase; MIT experience, with knowledge of compensation guidelines, MIT Employment Policy Manual, and Policies and Procedures; proven track record of project and people management; PHR, SPHR and/or SHRM-SCP certifications; and knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
