SENIOR LICENSING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, Technology Licensing Officer, is responsible for the commercialization of MIT’s IP portfolio arising from research and activities on MIT’s campus; managing a large portfolio of cases, including, technology evaluation, marketing, outreach to faculty and industry, business deal term creation, and distribution of IP rights through sophisticated license agreements and other IP dissemination mechanisms.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, physical sciences, or relevant field; a minimum of seven years of licensing experience in academic, federal laboratory technology transfer, industry business development and licensing involving commercialization of technologies with IP portfolio management, development of marketing and commercialization plans, and IP protection strategies; solid business relationships within relevant sectors; experience establishing license deal terms and negotiating license agreements; superior verbal and written communications skills; problem-solving and decision making skills; interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and a collaborative approach; ability to grasp University technology licensing’s complex licensing, legal and business issues; ability to work independently and as a team member; exercises judgment, prioritization, and discretion of a large workload; experience in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, matrix environment. PREFFERED: Master’s degree or PhD In life sciences, physical sciences, and/or MBA; demonstrated maturity and sensitivity to the needs of multiple stakeholders in a complex academic environment; knowledge of intellectual property, high level of business acumen, understanding the intersection of US Government and academia. Applicable industry business development and licensing involving commercialization of technologies related to: optics, computing, artificial intelligence, hardware, communications, software, transportation, and/or energy technologies, therapeutic, diagnostic, drug delivery, genetic engineering, medical device, biomanufacturing, biomaterials and/or drug discovery technologies

Salary range: $160,000-$190,000
