Posting Description

DEPUTY DIRECTOR AND HEAD OF OPERATIONS, MIT Museum, to oversee the day-to-day operations of the MIT Museum in Kendall Square, the Hart and Compton galleries on campus, and the new offsite collections management facility in Medford, including Human Resources, finance, visitor services, the Museum store, functions, building management, and the technology department; support major Museum projects as needed, including those originating in the Collections, Exhibitions, and Engagement departments; and support senior management during periods of transition, and representing the MIT Museum on behalf of the Director to key stakeholders, as required, including but not limited to, the Advisory Board, the Institute’s Senior Administration, and individual and corporate donors.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of ten years of relevant experience, ideally in a similar role, in a cultural institution or venue; extensive senior-level management experience with financial planning, Human Resources, operational, administrative and change management; demonstrated communications skills and ability to represent the museum to a wide variety of stakeholders, in person, online and in public forums; demonstrated leadership skills; experience managing a team or leading projects, programs, or functions; ability to collaborate and to build relationships; detail-oriented with a data-driven approach to strategic decision-making; and financial acumen and ability to understand complex budget and contractual agreements.
