Posting Description

PROGRAM SCIENTIST 2, ENGINEERING, Biological Engineering (BE), to help launch and expand a major new program in Engineering Women’s Health; assist the PIs in coordinating several interdisciplinary, multi-investigator projects centered on developing new microfluidic imaging, biomaterials, tissue engineering, and sensing technologies that capture features of human pathophysiology; facilitate the day-to-day collaboration of the engineering and computational tool development teams with basic biology; assist immunology and clinical teams in defining design criteria for “Novel Alternative Methods (NAMs)” for generating humanized experimental data; and assist in strategic planning for the creation of a core facility accessible to other researchers and pilot projects demonstrating feasibility.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: PhD in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline; a minimum of four years of postdoctoral experience; a minimum of two years of experience in managing interdisciplinary research collaborations with a preference for collaborations spanning academia and industry; a record of peer-reviewed publications and experience conducting independent research in the research areas of the new program, including the use of tissue engineering and MPS to solve challenging problems in humanizing drug development; experience with primary human mammalian cell culture, tissue engineering, and microfluidic models of disease, imaging, bioassays, and translation to industry practice or broad dissemination; ability to contribute significant technical content to grant proposals, reports, professional workshops, symposia, etc.; solid critical thinking skills; and ability to work independently and show initiative toward identifying and solving technical challenges. PREFERRED: Interest in or experience with gynecological, gastrointestinal, or endocrine research and experience with social media; and experience with biomaterials, pharmacokinetics, bioreactors, and/or microfluidics.
