Posting Description

RESEARCH SCIENTIST 1, Civil and Environmental Engineering, to conduct experimental and theoretical research across multiple PI environments in Cohen's Nonlinear Mechanics Group, an interdisciplinary team comprised of engineers and scientists that integrates different disciplines and is developing techniques for the measurement of soft tissue mechanical properties to create new technologies for medical diagnosis. Will focus on highly specialized research functions and is critical in shaping the research group's long-term strategy and financial planning; advise the principal investigators on critical decisions, and taking responsibility for key aspects of the research portfolio; and work in a team that is diverse and inclusive in collaboration with PDAs, graduate students and UROPs and will benefit from the vibrant community of academics and entrepreneurs that gravitate around MIT.

Job Requirements

 

REQUIRED: PhD in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field; a minimum of two years of related experience in a research environment; ability to work well and communicate ideas effectively in a multidisciplinary team of researchers with different training backgrounds; proven track record of publications and scientific output; initiative, independence and robust organizational, analytical, and writing skills. PREFERRED: experience in medical device development or entrepreneurship. Job #24515
