Job Description

MANAGING EDITOR, MIT Technology Review (TR), to level up newsroom coverage and polish Tech Review’s editorial operations. This is an essential role on a busy team.  It offers an opportunity to take ownership of several critical newsroom functions, including fact-checking procedures and copy flow processes.  Will oversee digital production and ensure that stories really shine wherever they appear, help editors plan ahead and communicate to avoid bottlenecks and ensure that stories and packages run on time, support all aspects of story production, oversee editorial standards, and assist with newsroom operations and special projects.  May edit stories on occasion, but the main focus will be on coordinating fact checks, copy editing, and aspects of digital production for stories edited by others.  May also manage publishing calendars, troubleshoot technical issues with TR’s CMS, and contribute research or ideas to annual editorial projects.

The position is ideal for someone who relishes the challenge of managing many tasks at once, can orchestrate complex editorial schedules and programs, and is eager to find ways to help the newsroom improve and become a better place to work.
