Job Description

PROGRAM ASSOCIATE, Open Space Programming, to work closely as part of a team to plan for upcoming events and coordinate event support services with vendors inside and outside MIT.  Will set up, staff, and break down indoor and outdoor events; provide administrative support for multiple events, program, and projects; create signage; create, update, and monitor event paperwork; maintain an inventory of event supplies; coordinate after-hours access to E38 for events; attend meetings with current and potential collaborators, vendors, and caterers; provide backup staffing for the MIT Welcome Center desk as needed; and perform other duties as assigned.  Will take direction from the leadership team and the program manager. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years of administrative or event support experience; excellent event coordination, organizational, customer service, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills; experience using good judgment and tact while working with the public; attention to detail and accuracy; ability to prioritize, work on multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision; demonstrated flexibility when there is a need to change, reprioritize, or shift focus/goals; willingness to learn MIT processes and systems; and ability to move weights of 10 to 20 lbs., traverse long distances, and travel from site to site.  Seek a collaborative team player with an interest in public programs and community engagement who supports Open Space Programming’s committed to inclusive practices and meaningful community engagement and enjoys interacting with a wide variety of people, including tourists, prospective students, their families, and the general public. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree, spoken Spanish language skills, and experience in an office/professional environment.  Job #24243-5

This role requires working a flexible schedule, including regular night and weekend work for programs and events and regular business hours on non-event days. This is an on-site role with one day of remote work possible.

Hourly rate range: $25.00-$29.00
