Job Description

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC), to conduct research in the area of fusion neutronics. The research focuses on advancing the modeling capabilities for activated fluid modeling for fusion power plants.  Will be responsible for modeling radiological phenomena for molten salt blanket systems in ARC-class tokamak facilities.  Example analyses include dose rates from activated, flowing, molten salt in complex piping systems and depletion analysis of tritium breeding isotopes.  Will be expected to make original research contributions to the PSFC program, produce work for publication, and present work at scientific conferences.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in nuclear engineering or related field that includes a strong background in Monte Carlo methods or computational physics; proficiency with Python programming; experience with activation workflows, shut-down dose rate calculations, and computational fluid dynamics; and ability to communicate effectively and work in a team-oriented environment with staff and students from MIT, other universities, national laboratories.
