Job Description

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Mechanical Engineering (MechE)-Del Vecchio Lab, to join a new project on engineering epigenetic cellular memories in mammalian cells with applications to creating complex multi-cellular mammalian systems. The Del Vecchio Lab recently discovered that epigenetic memory of gene expression can be analog and have also identified the molecular mechanisms that enable this property. In this project, the lab seeks to exploit this discovery to program analog memory in single cells first, then leverage cell-to-cell communication to allow autonomous and reconfigurable formation of gradients of cell types that self-sustain without the need for external stimulation. The lab anticipates the use of this technology to create robust and sophisticated tissues with gradients of cell types which can be used for regenerative medicine or laboratory research.
