Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, CHUNG LAB, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory, to play a critical role in protocol development/optimization and data generation for a large NIH UM1 center aiming to map the human and non-human primate brain atlases using a state-of-the-art technology pipeline consisting of novel tissue processing methods, molecular probe labeling, and volumetric optical imaging techniques.  Will work closely with senior lab members and the principal investigator to ensure the smooth operation of the research project; and participate in molecular probe validation and holistic, quantitative proteomic and transcriptomic data generation with brain tissues.  Responsibilities include conducting experiments and assays; ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the laboratory; maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment; data collection; preparing and handling biological samples, chemicals, and reagents; keeping detailed records of experiments, procedures, and results; assisting with preparing research reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication; performing quality control checks; troubleshooting technical issues; training new lab members and junior technicians; and performing ad hoc duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., chemical engineering, materials sciences, biology, chemistry, neuroscience); two years’ laboratory experience, including with hands-on research; a background in neuroscience and/or immunochemistry; proficiency with laboratory techniques and equipment operation; meticulous attention to detail; strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment; and knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and practices.  PREFERRED:  familiarity with data analysis software and tools.  Job #23507
