Job Description
HUMAN RESOURCES (HR) ADMINISTRATOR, Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE), to provide effective management of HR activities for a department of 500, including 30+ faculty, teaching staff, administrative and support staff, and postdocs. Will counsel and advise faculty and staff on human resources, including personnel policy interpretation and administration, performance management, compensation, employee relations, and diversity, equity, and inclusion; coach and assist faculty and staff on issues relating to employee relations and conflict resolution; direct on-boarding and off-boarding; manage rewards and recognition programs; manage annual salary review processes and departmental searches; oversee management of F1-OPT, J-1 visa, and H-1B visa processing in the department; develop and implement ongoing reporting and tracking processes for DMSE management, including standard operating procedures, staff resource guides, and web-based resources; and generate and collaborate on developing creative solutions to complex problems, which may include working effectively with various individuals or groups in a variety of situations.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least four years of HR experience; working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and current HR principles and practices; ability to follow through on tasks; excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills; initiative; good judgment and discretion with confidential information; meticulous attention to detail; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Seek a hands-on manager with demonstrated effective supervisory experience. PREFERRED: experience with MIT systems, e.g., SAPgui, QuickBase, Cognos, and applicant tracking system (PeopleFluent); and SPHR or PHR certification. Job #23146-9
