Job Description

GRANTS FINANCIAL OFFICER, Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) (2 openings), to join the fiscal team of a large, interdisciplinary laboratory with a diverse sponsor base and annual activities exceeding $50M and over 175 federal and industrial sponsor proposal submissions per year. Will advise and act as the primary point of contact for principal investigators (PIs)/project leaders on complex post-award matters; monitor the financial performance of active grants/contracts and provide updates to PIs to verify the proper distribution of resources and use of funds; provide financial analysis and oversight on complex matters and prepare reports for PIs, senior administrators, and sponsors; monitor sponsored research and discretionary accounts to ensure compliance with MIT and sponsor policies through the life of the award; interact with PIs to develop a range of research proposal budgets and administrative content of proposal submissions for a broad range of federal/industrial/foundation sponsors; and work with RLE’s fiscal team to resolve complex issues.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor's degree in a related field; five years’ accounting/finance experience; knowledge of federal guidelines; experience with federal contracts and financial administration, research proposal processing, and pre-award administration; experience in an academic research environment; high-level proficiency with Excel and familiarity with other MS Office programs; excellent analytical, organizational, customer service, and communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; willingness to learn new business methods and computational skills; demonstrated record of assuming greater responsibility over time; ability to work independently and as a member of a productive, innovative team; and ability to work flexibly as circumstances change in a fast-paced and challenging environment.  PREFERRED:  knowledge of enterprise financial systems, grants management tools, and multidimensional databases; and MIT experience.  Job #22821-8
