TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, NEUROSCIENCE, McGovern Institute for Brain Research, to join the laboratory of Professor Ann M. Graybiel, whose research focuses on identifying neural mechanisms of learning, decision-making, and action control, with high relevance to clinical disorders such as Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, autism, and addiction. Will perform a wide range of laboratory techniques applied to the neuroscience, especially rodent behavioral testing, electrophysiology, optogenetics, fast-scan cyclic voltammetry, in vivo imaging, photometry, CRISPR, various methods of drug and chemical administration, and state-of-the-art data analysis; assist with/perform rodent surgeries and perfusion; and manage multiple mouse colonies by working with institutional animal care staff. Will be a primary resource for these techniques, taking responsibility for complex tasks without direct supervision as part of a fast-paced team committed to cutting-edge neuroscience research. Will also share responsibility for daily lab operations, including record-keeping, general organization, and ordering supplies. Personal scientific growth and development, creativity, and initiative are strongly encouraged and supported in the lab.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferably with coursework in neuroscience; a minimum of two years of relevant research experience, including at least one year of neuroscience research experience with rodents; excellent organizational and communication skills; team orientation; meticulous attention to detail; ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced environment. PREFERRED: knowledge of rodent behavior and experience with neural recording and manipulation, Arduino, and MATLAB; and ability to perform the other techniques mentioned above. Job #20549
