DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), to work closely with the director and executive director to engage with current donors/funders and grow MITEI’s donor/funder base to support its mission. Will plan, direct, and coordinate the implementation of all development activities, including identifying and establishing relationships with MITEI prospects, planning special events, and stewarding donors (including coordinating meetings and follow-ups, in addition to writing appeals and acknowledgements); and maintain solid communication links with colleagues in MIT Resource Development and the MIT Office of Foundation Relations to ensure a coordinated strategy/stewardship approach.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; five years of nonprofit development experience with demonstrable results; excellent planning, analytical/data analysis, project management, organization, interpersonal, listening, and oral and written communication skills; ability to engage and build relationships with colleagues, leadership, faculty, alumni, donors, advisors, and other external constituents; ability to manage diverse tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and complex environment; meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and time sensitivity; discretion, diplomacy, and good judgment with confidential information. PREFERRED: interest in climate change mitigation solutions and the global transition to a clean energy system, familiarity with MIT’s structure and systems, and an interest or experience in working in academia.
