INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER, Haystack Observatory, to provide technical support in system implementation and management in a diverse environment whose mission is to carry out cutting-edge research in radio sciences. Will be responsible for deploying, supporting, and managing high-availability servers, storage, and virtualized stacks while maintaining a reliable, secure, and stable environment. Will also provide ongoing system performance and infrastructure support such as configuration management, monitoring, and developing plans for future growth. May also support, fabricate, and/or deploy research-related software and hardware systems; and provide a level of research project support, including assistance with implementation, deployment, and operational support for specialized research-related software and hardware systems.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: B.A/B.S in computer science or other STEM field; at least five years of relevant experience in a technical role supporting IT infrastructure in a complex environment; excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills; initiative; strong Linux background; scripting fluency in Python; understanding of and experience with virtual servers (VMware), networks, and firewalls; understanding of general IT security and data protection best practices; and experience with common configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible, Salt, or Chef).
