LABORATORY MANAGER, WILSON LAB, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory,to assist with the management of the Wilson Lab. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations, e.g., equipment maintanace, data servers, supplies/labstocks, software/licenses, and participating in lab research activities as necessary; maintaining laboratory protocols including those for animal research, EHS (environment, health and safety), chemical hygiene and reporting, rotating lab jobs, etc.; serving as as the primary point of contact for all MIT departments and as the lab’s EHS and Division of Comparative Medicine/Committee on Animcal Care representative; ensuring that lab equipment is in working order; developing and implementing systems/processes that imporove lab operations; assisting with lab budget, including forecasting, grant management, spending plans, salary allocation, and resource allocation; assisting with the writing, preparation, submission, and awarding of research proposals/grants; providing assistance on personnel matters, e.g. hiring, on/offboarding, visa administration, etc.; calendar management; scheduling travel; developing, updating, and submitting research progress reports for various collaborators; organizing and attending lab meetings; website maintenance; and other duties as requested.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in science-related field; two years’ post-degree experience in a laboratory/related environment; ability to balance multiple competing priorities and work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively across groups; strong technical, time-management, planning, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills; good judgment and discretion with confidential information; and proficiency with MS Office. PREFERRED: advanced degree; exposure to managing and forecasting budgets, especially those with federal reporting and spending requirements; experience writing, developing, or submitting scientific grants; experience with MIT systems/programs (SAP, Coheus, Concur, B2P, etc.); and project management experience or experience overseeing teams/groups in a management role.
