Job Description

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL) (multiple openings), to be responsible for creating, supporting, and disseminating new knowledge in logistics, supply chain management, transportation, and related fields.  Will identify, secure funding for, and conduct innovative research in the supply chain management, logistics, and transportation space with corporate and/or government sponsors; publish research-oriented papers in peer-refereed scholarly journals, academic proceedings, trade journals, and CTL working papers; supervise graduate students conducting research at the master’s level (capstone and thesis) and participate in Ph.D. committee work; participate in both academic and practitioner-oriented conferences, symposia, and meetings, including teaching both executive and graduate-level courses; and complete other CTL or SCM program tasks as requested.  

The Center for Transportation & Logistics conducts research, outreach, and educational activities with a number of different companies, organizations, and governments. These include ~50 corporate sponsors of its Supply Chain Exchange and various hosting governments/organizations for its international Global SCALE (Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence) centers in Europe, Asia, and South America.  

Job Requirements
REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in transportation, operations management, logistics, supply chain management, general management, or related field; excellent communication and presentation skills; relevant experience in supply chain, international operations, logistics, and/or transportation research; strong grounding in an academic environment and with proposal writing; ability to work with both industry and government agencies; history of working without significant ongoing, hands-on guidance and direction; and willingness to contribute to the center's broader missionJob #20216
