STORE MANAGER, MIT Museum, to join the MIT Museum’s new facility, including an expanded store, in Kendall Square in April 2022. Will report to the deputy director and be responsible for the management, operation, and performance of the MIT Museum Store, including its online store. Responsibilities will include buying, effective merchandising, sales, and inventory management; driving profitability and achieving annual sales goals; financial oversight, including the annual budget, reporting and tracking store expenses, daily sales, review and analysis of revenue data and trends, and adherence to MIT procurement and financial guidelines and systems; hiring, training, supervising, and developing assistants to the store manager and temporary staff; and modeling best practices in customer service. Will also develop and implement a merchandise plan that reflects the mission and character of the museum and local and tourist buying patterns; further develop the e-commerce website and e-commerce plan to maximize revenue; and oversee all operations of the online store, including website content, marketing, search engine optimization, order fulfillment, and customer service.

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree; at least three years of retail sales management experience, including buying, marketing, merchandising, and in-store and online sales; demonstrated ability to meet annual sales goals; knowledge of and experience with point-of-sale/inventorysystems; understanding of budget process and forecasting; proven skill with financial planning, analysis and accountability, and personnel management and development; excellent communication, customer service, time-management, multitasking, and problem-solving skills; and the ability to collaborate as part of a team and pay attention to numerous details simultaneously.
