OFFICER, US COMMUNITY, Solve, to participate in Solve’s US Communities work and as part of a wider team that hosts Solve’s Global Challenges around sustainability, health, learning, and economic prosperity. Solve, an MIT initiative with a mission to solve world challenges, finds incredible, tech-based social entrepreneurs around the world through open innovation Challenges. Will play a central role in developing, growing, and engaging Solve’s rich community and marketplace, specifically, teams from its 2021 Antiracist Technology in the US Challenge. Will build relationships with a range of people/organizations, help design and facilitate interactive events, and help drive and scale tech-enabled innovation on some of the most pressing challenges in the US, with a focus on the Interior and Gulf South. Responsibilities include researching, recruiting, and managing private/public/nonprofit/academic sector relationships to create a community of diverse, cross-sector leaders; sourcing funders, members, and partners; supporting an annual cohort of innovators; collecting and validating data; facilitating and brokering partnerships between Solver teams and Solve Community leaders; event planning, execution, and facilitation; promoting annual Challenges to find the most promising diverse applicants; database maintenance; and managing interns/volunteers.

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least two years’ related work experience, including relationship management; initiative; flexibility; and ability to work independently and plan work efficiently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. PREFERRED: experience with and knowledge of US non-coastal regions and engaging with underestimated communities; experience in a social and/or environmental impact organization; experience in sales, fund-raising, or nonprofit development; experience working as or with entrepreneurs and innovators; and project management training/experience. While the team is currently working entirely remotely, starting this fall Solve team members will generally be expected to spend some days each week in-person in Cambridge, MA.
