OFFICER, SUSTAINABILITY COMMUNITY, Solve, to be a key member of Solve’s Sustainability Pillar work and join the wider community team that hosts Solve’s global challenges around sustainability, health, learning, and economic prosperity. Solve is an MIT initiative with a mission to solve world challenges. Through open innovation Challenges, Solve finds tech-based social entrepreneurs around the world and brings together MIT’s innovation ecosystem and a community of members to fund and support these entrepreneurs. Will build relationships with a wide range of people and organizations, help design and facilitate interactive events, and help drive and scale tech-enabled innovation on some of the most pressing challenges around the climate crisis. Responsibilities include researching, recruiting, and managing relationships with private, public, nonprofit, and academic people and organizations on sustainability-related topics; supporting an annual cohort of innovators through curated introductions, cohort meetups, event design and delivery, and ongoing support for alumni teams; collecting and validating data; facilitating/brokering partnerships between Solver teams and Solve community leaders; collaborating on planning, executing, and facilitating events; sourcing funders, members, and partners to support Solve; promoting annual Solve Global Challenges; database maintenance; and managing interns/volunteers.

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least two years’ related work experience, including with relationship management; flexibility; initiative; and ability to work independently and plan work efficiently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. PREFERRED: knowledge of and/or experience with climate or sustainability work globally; experience in a social and/or environmental impact organization; experience in sales, fund-raising, or nonprofit development; experience working as or with entrepreneurs/innovators; and project management training or experience. While the team is currently working entirely remotely, starting this fall Solve team members will generally be expected to spend some days each week in-person in Cambridge, MA.
