SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT, ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE, Office of the Vice President for Finance-Accounts Receivable Team (2 openings), to support reporting, compliance, analysis, and control of accounting and financial functions related to the Institute’s accounts receivable (A/R), including state and federal filings and general ledger accounts; and provide support on complex sponsored research inquiries. Responsibilities include performing invoicing for sponsored and general A/R; acting as a technical resource on a broad range of issues related to sponsored and general accounts receivable, including resolution of issues/concerns; gathering and analyzing data for preparing a variety of financial reports and supporting internal/external auditor requests; suggesting process improvements; reviewing, correcting, and approving journal voucher requests; performing the monthly close process; supporting the review of quarterly close schedules; reviewing sponsored research financial data reports created by team members and handling other duties and special projects as requested.

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related business area; three years’ financial operations experience, including accounting and/or research administration; advanced-level Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) skills; ability to swiftly identify issues, resolve with minimal guidance, or escalate if necessary; strong customer service, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and ensure timely delivery of all responsibilities/assignments; attention to detail and accuracy; discretion and good judgment with sensitive/confidential information; collaborative working style; and adaptability and flexibility in learning new tasks, taking on assignments, and supporting/pitching in on team initiatives. PREFERRED: sponsored research administration experience, including financial audit of sponsored research awards and reviewing and recording journal entries; experience with SAP or similar enterprise accounting systems, Brio Query, and Cognos; and MIT experience.
