TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Biological Engineering-Hansen Lab, to join a lab that is interested in understanding the interplay between genome organization and regulation of gene expression in mammals. The lab uses a combination of mammalian tissue culture, live-cell super-resolution fluorescence microscopy, molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics and computational approaches towards this goal. The work will be ~75% research and ~25% general lab organizational duties focusing on helping to develop new genome-editing methods to facilitate fluorescence imaging in mammalian cells. This is part of a new collaborative initiative with the Broad Institute Gene Regulation Observatory and will involve close collaboration with Dr. Fei Chen. Responsibilities include performing cloning of DNA constructs for genome-editing; performing genome-editing of human cells and tissue culture of human cells; conducting biochemical experiments such as Western Blotting, qPCR and similar assays; conducting and optimizing high-resolution live-cell fluorescence microscopy experiments; conducting computational data analysis; maintaining lab inventory and fulfilling external reagent requests; and ensuring regulatory and safety compliance of lab and lab members.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in molecular or cell biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related field; at least two years’ wet lab experience, including molecular biology (undergraduate research experience acceptable); an understanding of modern molecular and cell biology; excellent organizational skills; meticulous attention to detail; initiative and self-motivation; hood written and oral communication skills; willingness to train and onboard new lab members and to learn and acquire new experimental and computational skills as necessary; and the ability to juggle between multiple roles, work both independently and in collaboration with lab members, and clearly document work and maintain an accurate lab notebook.
