TAX MANAGER, Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF)-Tax, to lead a sector of the VPF Tax team managing MIT’s tax advisory, planning, compliance, and reporting needs. Will collaborate closely with functional teams and training resources within VPF to identify opportunities for continuous improvement; educate the MIT community on tax matters; and perform as a team leader, technical adviser, and project supervisor.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field; thorough knowledge of taxation, financial analysis, and U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); at least six years’ direct tax experience at a large public accounting or law firm, multinational corporation or partnership with a significant tax department, or not-for-profit tax department of a large research university; experience leading staff; experience interpreting complicated tax/finance concepts for colleagues with varying degrees of understanding; proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; ability to lead multiple challenging projects simultaneously in a fast-paced setting with strict deadlines; strategic problem-solving and risk assessment orientation; excellent analytical, organizational, consultative, customer service, and written and verbal communication skills; discretion, tact, and good judgment with highly sensitive/confidential information; ability to work collaboratively in a consensus-driven environment; and willingness to pitch in with the team to accomplish tasks. PREFERRED: CPA or advanced degree in accounting, taxation, and/or law; management experience focused on advisory, planning, and compliance projects; experience calculating/reporting tax on investment income; familiarity with tax rules affecting nonprofits, endowments, investments, and international tax; experience with IRS, state, and foreign government audits; experience with financial and accounting systems, particularly within higher education; and knowledge of/experience with state and global mobility issues.
