DEPARTMENT COMMUNITY AND EQUITY OFFICER, Mechanical Engineering (MechE), to develop a diverse and inclusive culture in the Mechanical Engineering community, while working with partners to harness resources that grow this culture. Will work with the community to implement best practices that strengthen inclusion around race, gender, disabilities, sexuality, nationality, social class, and religion among the MechE faculty, students, staff, and researchers; work directly with faculty and MechE’s senior leadership giving officer to raise financial resources needed to effectively recruit a diverse population and to create an inclusive environment within the department; and create policy, identify and help develop resources, and implement and evaluate actions within the department.

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least five years’ professional work experience with a track record of leading diversity and inclusion efforts, preferably in higher education; knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines related to affirmative action and civil rights enforcement; excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving, and oral and written communication skills; and ability to manage multiple complex projects and to work collaboratively within and bring people together across teams. PREFERRED: a graduate degree with coursework in higher education administration, human resources, social justice, or cultural diversity; and demonstrated evidence of experience with strategic and tactical thinking about diversity and inclusion, and scaling projects to achieve maximum impact.
