DIRECTOR OF ANALYTICS, MIT Technology Review (MIT TR), to support TR’s analytic needs by analyzing and reporting on web traffic using tools such as Google Analytics, Parse.ly, HotJar, etc. Will draw conclusions, provide insights, and make recommendations based on a strategic understanding of TR’s mission and commercial and editorial objectives. Responsibilities include creating holistic dashboards; suggesting, creating, and executing multivariate or a/b tests that drive fundamental improvements to the site experience and increase the conversion rate for subscription and event ticket sales; identifying opportunities to improve data capture strategy and collaboratively implementing enhancements; and supporting key marketing initiatives related to subscription attribution modeling.

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred); seven years’ related experience that includes three years’ working with analysis and reporting tools (primarily Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Google Tag Manager, Looker, and Parse.ly), two with advanced web analytics methodologies (e.g., experimentation and testing, competitive analysis, surveys, and market research), and three in one or more roles in an online media/e-commerce environment; understanding of complex web ecosystems and best practices; high-level expertise with business intelligence tools (e.g., Looker, Domo, Microsoft Power BI, or similar); experience writing and tuning SQL queries; understanding of core website technologies (HTML, CSS, JS); high-level Excel proficiency; and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to interact with all levels of end-users and technical resources, work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team, and use sound judgment to identify and/or escalate issues.
