PROGRAM ASSISTANT, Office of Engineering Outreach Programs (OEOP), to assist program coordinators with implementation of complex and diverse administrative duties in support of MITES and MOSTEC programs.  Will support the student recruitment, application, selection, and enrollment processes of all OEOP programs.  Responsibilities include communicating with participants and answering inquiries from the general public and users of the application portal; facilitating program courses and meetings; purchasing materials and supplies; scheduling meetings; maintaining documentation of staff and student enrollment; updating internal database; distributing communication via social media, website, presentations, and other tools; processing reimbursements and assisting with collection of financial documentation; participating in event planning (e.g., MITES six-week residential program, MOSTEC five-day program conference, and student selection meetings), including active participation in the events and the execution of program sessions; attending additional OEOP student, alumni- and fund-raising events; and performing other duties as needed. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  a high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years of related office or administrative experience; strong organizational, time-management, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; ease with both telephone and in-person contacts; ability to prepare minutes and short documents; demonstrated commitment to diversity and serving diverse constituents; and proficiency with word processing, database, and accounting functions including some troubleshooting and system updating.   Must be able to remain flexible, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and maintain confidential information and use good judgment in unexpected situations.  A bachelor’s degree and MIT experience are preferred.  Experience with customer service would be a plus.  Job #16900-5

Must be able to work some evening and weekend hours while programs are in session. 

This is a one-year appointment that may be eligible for renewal contingent upon available funding.
