DIRECTOR OF ENGAGEMENT AND CAMBRIDGE SCIENCE FESTIVAL, MIT Museum, to lead all of the MIT Museum’s work in educational and public programming, particularly the expanded opportunities provided by its new location in Kendall Square, opening in 2021. Will be responsible for year-round programmatic activities in the museum. This will include outreach activities such as the annual Cambridge Science Festival and a number of national and global programming initiatives; and internal activities such as serving as part of the senior management team and working closely with colleagues in other key areas in the framing and delivery of the museum’s strategic plans. Will also work closely with colleagues across MIT and from other institutions in North America and overseas on the development of the larger field of public engagement with science and technology. Will report to the MIT Museum’s director.

REQUIRED: at least ten years of relevant professional experience; a master’s degree (doctorate preferred) in a relevant subject area; demonstrated record of successfully creating and implementing original engagement activities designed for one of the Museum’s key target audiences; experience developing and implementing programs to engage new and diverse audiences; expertise in program evaluation; excellent budget preparation, organizational, and management skills; experience with supporting grant writing and fund-raising; an established reputation in the field of science engagement; excellent interpersonal and managerial skills; ability to build teams and work collaboratively; meticulous attention to detail; and ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize duties, and meet deadlines.
