MANAGER OF ADMINISTRATION AND OPERATIONS, MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative (ESI), to manage day-to-day operations for ESI, including finance, human resources, and overall administration. Major financial responsibilities include developing and managing ESI budgets, including monitoring, analyzing, reconciling, forecasting, and reporting; serving as ESI’s grant administrator for research and curriculum grants to MIT faculty; and managing pre- and post-award administration of all grants, gifts, and Institute funding to ESI. Major human resources responsibilities include assisting with the articulation of job expectations for staff; overseeing and implementing search and hiring processes and processing appointments; and organizing performance evaluations, development plans, and pay and hiring decisions for others. Overall administration responsibilities include sustaining alignment with ESI’s mission and objectives; supporting the development and execution of ESI-wide strategic and operational plans and systems to ensure effective and efficient unit operations; coordinating resource allocation; working with ESI portfolio managers to coordinate project schedules, plans, and proposals; helping portfolio managers anticipate, troubleshoot, and resolve problems; serving as administrative liaison to diverse units across campus; interpreting, implementing, and ensuring compliance with MIT and external policies; supporting director with unit-level reporting; recommending and developing new policies and procedures; and evaluating organizational effectiveness, developing recommendations for improvements, and assisting with change management strategies. May supervise non-exempt staff and perform other duties as assigned. Will report ESI director.
REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in a related field; a minimum of three years’ administration/operations and financial management experience and/or project/program management experience; and experience managing others or leading projects, programs, or functions. Job #16234-P
