POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, CONNECTED HOME LOGISTICS Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL)-AgeLab (multiple openings), to join a multidisciplinary team focused on research that seeks to improve the lives of older adults by avenues of technology, science, and business solutions. Will work on a research project to prototype and evaluate a home technology platform that addresses older adults’ and their caregivers’ needs. The project will include working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary research team to design and conduct user studies (qualitative and quantitative), design working prototypes, and carry out statistical data analysis. Responsibilities include participating in existing research in areas of technology acceptance, product design, and human-computer interaction; developing use scenarios, designing working prototypes and usability studies, and evaluating the usability and acceptance of a home technology platform; assisting in all aspects of research including defining the research problem (i.e., literature reviews; recruiting participants; collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data; and summarizing findings); serving as a resource for others in the lab with questions on user research, research design, engineering design, and data analysis methods; participating in meetings with sponsors and research partners; drafting, reviewing, and editing proposals, reports and papers; and helping plan, organize, and run events. May write proposals and perform other laboratory support duties.
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in engineering design, human-computer interaction, mechanical engineering, computer science, or related field; excellent communication, organizational, and written and oral presentation skills; attention to detail; team-orientation; and ability to handle multiple priorities from multiple sources. Must have experience with user research; product design and development; Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and statistics and a statistical package, e.g. R, SPSS, Stata, Minitab, or SAS.
