Posting Description

SENIOR RESEARCH ADMINISTRATOR, Biological Engineering, to perform complex and comprehensive sponsored research financial management for an assigned portfolio of faculty and serve as the primary informational resource on matters pertaining to sponsored research administration; serve as the primary point-of- contact for assigned faculty; prepare and submit research proposals/contracts, assisting principal investigators with budgets and administrative content; prepare reports, forecast, and disseminate relevant information to faculty and staff; meet with PIs to review budgets and plan financial reports and forecasts; review and approve research proposals; ensure compliance with MIT research administration policies; oversee subawards, cost- sharing, under-recovery, overruns, and other financial issues; coach, mentor, and train staff engaged in sponsored research administration activities; recommend policies and initiatives and develop improvements/innovations to enhance performance; and assist with preparing financial reports as needed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor‘s degree; a minimum of four years of experience administering sponsored research programs in a university setting; solid communication, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to interact with faculty, staff, students; demonstrate sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality; handle deadlines and stressful situations with tact, and multitask; ability to handle a large volume of work on a daily basis with many interruptions; ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment; solid attention to detail; ability to learn technologies related to sponsored research administration; and advanced-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel. PREFERRED: Kuali Coeus, SAP, Cognos, and Brio Query experience.
