DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY AND DIGITAL STRATEGY, MIT Museum, to be responsible for all aspects of technology operations, including strategic planning for the current Museum as well as the new Museum in the Kendall Gateway, technical implementation, and budget preparation and management. Will report to the director and serve as a member of the management team. Responsibilities include providing leadership, vision, and oversight for all technology-based projects; providing overall direction and advice on the Museum’s technology implementations; working with the management team to develop and grow digital engagement with the Museum’s diverse audiences, both onsite and online; collaborating with exhibitions, education and public programs, collections, store, visitor services, communications, and administrative staff to identify technology opportunities that will position the Museum as a technology leader and then develop and implement them to provide a distinct and seamless visitor experience; overseeing Museum websites, implementing websites in-house, and working with outside vendors; monitoring websites to ensure operation, maintaining backups, and updating server software as needed; participating in the development of strategic plans; and supervising one or more full- or part-time permanent or temporary staff working on technology-related projects.

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or information technology; seven years of experience in technology project development, implementation, and management focused on the visitor experience; and three years of related supervisory or management experience. Must possess a broad base of technical knowledge in information technology, digital engagement tools, and emerging technology trends and issues, especially in a museum, public-facing, or university environment.
