Posting Description

FINANCIAL ASSISTANT 2, Media Lab, to provide complex financial and compliance supporting financial operations, reporting, and training to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient financial management; review, verify, and approve credit card transactions, travel expense reports, reimbursements, and purchase requisitions; monitor and resolve unallocated credit card charges, unexpended travel, aged purchase orders, and outstanding invoices; track Financial Review and Control completion and quarterly salary distribution certifications; respond to complex financial; maintain and update financial process documentation and communicate guidance; support development and delivery of financial compliance training, including workshops, one-on-one sessions, and training materials; assess training needs and provide guidance, consultation, and coaching to staff; collaborate with research and operational teams to keep training content current; assist with transaction processing, compliance tracking, audits, and reconciliations; review monthly financial activity to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation; and support ad hoc finance projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of three years of related financial or research administration experience; strong analytical, organizational, communication, and time-management skills; attention to detail, discretion, and ability to manage deadlines; and proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic filing systems. PREFERRED: Knowledge of MIT financial policies and systems (e.g., SAP, Buy2Pay, Concur).

This is a part-time position (20 hours/week) with a hybrid schedule.
