MIT provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the Institute reasonably expects to pay for a full time position at the time of posting (part time positions are pro-rated). Posting Description

PURCHASING ASSISTANT, MIT Health, will coordinate the procurement of complex and diverse purchasing activities and perform as a department lead for functions associated with procurement; have authority to expend up to $5,000 without additional authority when purchasing low to mid dollar items that are traditionally clinical supplies, standard catalog materials, equipment, and services; be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and approving purchase order requests, assisting with contract development and renewals for MIT Health and reporting functionalities; be accountable for multiple reconciliations and auditing programs to ensure accuracy and fiscally responsible usage of budget dollars; manage high visibility and/or sensitive projects such as furniture purchases or other large-scale items that may have implications to other project work and are mid to long term in nature; and develop notifications and recommendations as to best options for leveraging utilization of purchasing dollars.

Job Requirements
REQUIREDHigh School diploma and a minimum of four years of experience in accounting or finance or combination of equivalent experience; thorough understanding of job responsibilities, procedures, and practices, including of financial operations outside of own area; strong attention to detail, analytical, and organizational skills; good communication skills, both written and oral, and a customer service focus; ability to deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion; ability to identify and recommend solutions to complex problems; ability to take initiative to implement and/or improve established financial processes in support of operational area; strong computer skills (e.g. Excel and Word); knowledge of SAP or similar accounting package; and intermediate skills in Excel. PREFERRED: Relational database skills, Brio Query and/or Cognos.
