Posting Description

ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR, CAMPUS VISITS, Admissions Office, serves as an admissions officer with a primary focus on supporting campus visits. Under the direction of an Associate Director of Admissions, the Counselor manages and oversees on-campus recruitment programs and initiatives; supervises student tour guides; fosters a welcoming environment for visitors of all backgrounds; and reviews and selects undergraduate applicants, actively participating in the admissions selection committee, and regularly serving as a primary representative of MIT to campus visitors. The role also involves periodic national and local travel to recruit students, engage alumni/ae, and support other recruitment and yield activities as needed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree; excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills; demonstrate flexibility in adapting programming and protocols; excellent public speaking abilities; strong organizational and data analysis skills; genuine interest in working with students and families; and exercise discretion. PREFERRED: One to two years of higher education experience; and bilingual or multilingual abilities.

A valid driver’s license, periodic air travel, and the ability to work evenings and weekends during the academic year are required.

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of three days per week on-site in Cambridge, MA.
