MIT provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the Institute reasonably expects to pay for a full time position at the time of posting (part time positions are pro-rated). Posting Description

SENIOR FINANCIAL OFFICER, Department of Mechanical Engineering, to supervise and perform complex financial activities related to the daily operations of the general Institute budget of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Will provide detailed management of general accounts and gift/endowed accounts; perform and supervise various financial activities; develop financial strategies in collaboration with DLC management; identify operational problems and deficiencies and recommend solutions; prepare the general departmental budget; prepare and develop reports, budget forecasts and financial analyses that enable Senior Leadership to effectively manage finances; develop and implement financial policies, procedures and process improvements; oversee the financial performance of various accounts;  prepare multi-year spending projections for departmental, endowed and non-endowed accounts; set up and oversee departmental professorship accounts; monitor under-recovery commitments and expenses; balance department accounts; advise staff on matters pertaining to financial management, including financial administration policies and procedures; responsible for supervision and development of two assistants; manage gifts and donations processes; and proactively identify areas for improvement and implement ideas.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; a minimum of five years of financial management experience; robust communication, analysis and organizational skills; ability to develop robust working relationships with a variety of faculty and staff; initiative and the ability to work independently to solve problems with minimal supervision; a good team player; and advanced knowledge of Excel, and SAP or similar accounting package. PREFERRED: Familiarity with BrioQuery, Cognos, Tableau, Quickbase, and MIT Roles Database. Job #24956-9
