Posting Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II, Sloan School of Management- Behavioral and Policy Science (BPS) (2 openings), to perform, under minimal supervision, complex and diverse administrative, faculty support, financial management, and events and communications duties in support of faculty in the BPS academic area at Sloan; develop knowledge of the BPS area, other departments, and the Institute in order to anticipate and initiate actions regarding office operations; function as a high-level individual contributor or coordinator of multiple projects; support the mission of the Sloan academic areas; support courses; complete purchases and requests for reimbursements on behalf of the faculty; maintain complex calendars; schedule appointments, meetings, and travel; compose and edit correspondence and documents; attend high-level meetings and handle minutes; act as liaison to faculty; serve as financial approver on travel reports, requests for reimbursements, and purchase card transactions; make complex purchases; manage vendors; manage account reconciliation; plan and coordinate a range of high-profile events; maintain website and database; and other duties as needed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High school diploma or its equivalent; a minimum of three years of administrative, office, or related experience; thorough understanding of own work and how it impacts operations across the area and outside own work unit and ability to recognize how the needs of the unit impacts other areas of MIT/Sloan; advanced-level computer software skills and ability to identify and learn new programs/software and perform complex web searches; excellent interpersonal and communication skills for representing the work area and the larger MIT community; discretion with confidential information; and attention to detail. PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree.
