Posting Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II, ECONOMICS, FINANCE & ACCOUNTING STAFF (3 openings), Sloan School of Management, to perform, under minimal supervision, complex and diverse administrative, faculty support, financial management, and events and communications duties in support of faculty in the BPS academic area at Sloan.  Will develop knowledge of the BPS area, other departments, and the Institute to anticipate and initiate actions regarding office operations; function as a high-level individual contributor or coordinator of multiple projects; and support the mission of the Sloan academic areas.   Responsibilities include providing support for courses; completing purchases and requests for reimbursements on behalf of the faculty; maintaining complex calendars; scheduling appointments, meetings, and travel; composing and editing correspondence/documents; attending high-level meetings and handling minutes; acting as liaison to faculty; serving as financial approver on travel reports, requests for reimbursements, and purchase card transactions; making complex purchases; vendor management; account reconciliation; planning/coordinating a range of high-profile events; website and database maintenance; and other duties as needed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High school diploma or its equivalent; a minimum of three years of administrative, office, or related experience; general understanding of own work and how it impacts operations outside the academic area; ability to recognize the needs of the academic area and how it impacts other areas at MIT and understand role relative to all areas; advanced-level computer software skills and ability to easily negotiate the internet and perform searches; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills for representing the work area and the larger MIT community. PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree.
