Posting Description

SENIOR WRITER AND COPY EDITOR, Communications, Events, Donor Relations, and Stewardship, reporting to the Senior Director of Communications in the Office of Resource Development (RD), will be a creative communications professional who contributes to and implements content strategies across digital, print, and multimedia channels in support of MIT fundraising priorities, RD events marketing, publications, and stewardship reporting; conceptualizes and produces original content; conducts research; interviews subjects and edits and repurposes content from a variety of sources to build the MIT story of philanthropy and enable fundraisers to maximize donor support; and copy edits a wide range and high volume of communications, ensuring text is clear, consistent, grammatically correct, and accessible.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, communications, or a related discipline; a minimum of three years of professional writing and copy-editing experience; exceptional writing skills, a proven ability to write in and edit for another person’s voice; project management abilities, including developing and maintaining schedules and coordinating reviews; and excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. PREFERRED: Experience developing promotional copy for print and digital media; analytic and research skills to gather and determine utility of information from a variety of sources; experience working with a large volume of concurrent projects; understanding of higher education, fundraising, and science and technology; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, web content management systems, and project management software in a Mac environment.
