Posting Description
ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY (EHS) SPECIALIST, Division of Student Life (DSL) – Housing and Residential Services, assists and provides advice and support with due consideration of occupational health laws, federal and state regulations, and good practices; is an integral member of the DSL EHS team and works in all EHS areas related to DSL activities and assists on special projects; works under the directions of the DSL EHS Program Manager and serves in a support role within the Division of Student Life; and provides advice to MIT faculty, staff, and students in the field of general EHS practices with due consideration of occupational health laws, federal and state regulations, and good practices with the ultimate goal of enhancing health and safety for the MIT community.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferably science, engineering, or technology with EHS-related coursework; a minimum of one year of relevant experience; ability to make effective oral presentations, work as part of a team, and obtain certifications as appropriate (e.g., CHMM, ASP, CSP, etc.); general knowledge and basic understanding of EHS programs; and basic knowledge of regulations specific to federal, state, local and consensus standards, including working knowledge of common OSHA standards. This position has a hybrid work schedule, with both remote and on-campus work. Exact hybrid schedule to be determined according to departmental needs.
