POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR, IMPLOSION FABRICATION OPTICAL PHYSICS, McGovern Institute for Brain Research/Biological Engineering – Synthetic Neurobiology/Boyden Lab and So Lab, to join a team focusing on developing a new nanofabrication technology, implosion fabrication to develop optical strategies that support the creation of nanoprecise multimaterial devices, such as optical metamaterials and green chemistry nanoreactors; develop, optimize, and validate a lithographic fabrication platform based on multiphoton microscope-based temporal focusing high throughput 3D writing; develop a quantitative phase imaging system for in situ validation of 3D optical metamaterials created by our process; design and develop optical metamaterials for novel applications such as optical computing and machine vision; and analyze data, documenting and managing protocols, helping prepare manuscripts and grants, and recognizing problems or situations that are new and troubleshooting, inventing, or finding solutions.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, physics, optics, or a related field; a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in experimental chemistry and nanofabrication lab work, specifically in optical device design and fabrication; demonstrated experience in developing new optical protocols and techniques; solid analytical, problem-solving, organizational, documentation, planning, and time-management skills; and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting. PREFERRED: experience in optical computing and device fabrication; experience with 3D nanofabrication and device characterization; proficiency in material synthesis techniques and device fabrication with novel materials; and familiarity with nanoimaging microscopy methods.
