Posting Description

MARKETING ASSISTANT, MIT Press, to provide overall administrative support to the Marketing Department including mailings, email triaging, facilitating review copy distribution, collecting and submitting invoices, creating purchase orders, and interfacing with vendors for marketing campaigns; submit titles to industry trade media for notification and potential review (Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal, Booklist, Shelf Awareness, Foreword Reviews, Choice); assist in seasonal scheduling and planning, including distributing marketing materials, circulating marketing plans, and scheduling departmental meetings; circulate cover copy and endorsements for approval, upload marketing copy, endorsements, and author bios into title management systems, format marketing materials, and make routine edits in print and digital materials; facilitate the Press’s award submission process for MIT Press authors/titles; approve and manage textbook exam copy requests from academic instructors.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of three years of administrative experience; good organizational and verbal/written communication skills; ability to convey routine, prescribed information to others. Experience in publishing and/or marketing, experience with professional title management systems like Penguin Random House’s MyHouse and/or Biblio, proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Airtable, FileMaker; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferred.
