SENIOR CONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR I, Research Administration Services (RAS), to manage an assigned sponsored projects portfolio, focusing on final proposal review and submission, award acceptance, and post-award modifications; work independently on a variety of complex grants/contracts, including those from NIH, NSF, DOD and NASA and other sponsors; interpret complicated regulations and guidelines of program funding for complex MIT grants and contracts; and negotiate grants and contracts, resolving in conjunction with the Principal investigator and sponsor contracting personnel any difficulties as to contract terms, administrative regulations and budgetary matters.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of five years of research administration and relevant financial management experience, 4 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree requirement; to be credentialed in one or more sponsors and serve as a liaison for at least one sponsor, agency or program; excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience delegating to and training junior staff; ability to work accurately in a high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail; excellent interpersonal and customer service skills for interacting with department, labs, centers, government agencies and contractors; experience interpreting guidelines and rules and communicating them appropriately; ability to work with flexibility on several tasks simultaneously and to meet various concurrent deadlines; demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; general understanding of Federal Guidelines, Uniform Guidance and other Federal procedures regarding grants and contracts; and experience with MS Office, strong experience with excel, demonstrated knowledge of databases and other systems. PREFERRED: Experience in an academic or medical environment; experience with non-profit, foundation, international and/or industry sponsors; and Kuali Coeus experience. Job #24673-8
