Posting Description

FINANCIAL ASSISTANT II, MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), to provide direct support to the Manager of Financial Operations. Responsibilities will include performing financial management of general, fund, and research accounts for MITE Headquarters, faculty and research staff; monitoring account activity and expenditures for compliance with sponsor guidelines and approved budgets; reconciling account statements and salary expense reports in accordance with the financial review and control process; preparing monthly projections; approving requests for payment, travel expense reports, and other accounting forms; reviewing and approving invoices; processing requisitions and reviewing purchase order commitments; assisting with developing proposal budgets and preparing current and pending support; conducting quarterly review of F&A rates and monthly review of closing report; processing account closeouts including compliance audit; overseeing and maintaining all financial documentation and electronic files; serving as resource for faculty and staff regarding MIT-related issues; and other duties as directed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High school diploma and a minimum of three years of financial or accounting experience; excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills; ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and follow through; attention to detail; solid accounting skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint. PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree; MIT accounting and purchasing systems experience; and proficiency with MIT’s financial software, i.e., SAP and Cognos. Job #24672-5
