Posting Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE 1, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory-Tsai Lab, to assist with research on the effects of neurodegeneration on cognitive function in various mouse models; conduct stereotaxic surgery, behavioral experiments in mouse models, and analysis of highly-automated paradigms as well as those requiring human observation, including optogenetic, pharmacological, histology, biochemical, and imaging approaches; and work closely with postdocs and graduate students. Will involve increasing participation in scientific research.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, or related field with a minimum of two years of experience working in a research laboratory environment; experience with behavioral testing and familiarity with the intricacies of rodent behavior, particularly in the mouse; and skilled in microscopy and imaging, molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (e.g., Western blotting and histology). PREFERRED: experience with mouse colony management, including breeding, weaning, and health and welfare monitoring and support; and experience in rodent stereotaxic surgery, transcardial perfusion, brain dissection and brain slice preparation, and immunohistochemistry.
