Posting Description

SENIOR SUPERVISOR, PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE (PM), Facilities-Repair and Maintenance (R&M), to manage the preventive maintenance teams and contract vendors--under the supervision of the manager of R&M--to provide superior customer service and maintain all buildings and systems.  Will also be responsible for providing leadership and ongoing supervision of all PM supervisors and provide standby supervisory coverage in R&M on a rotating basis on weekends and holidays.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least five years of experience in building operations and maintenance service; supervisory experience in a repair and maintenance setting with oversight over mechanical systems; direct experience with HVAC and instrument tech systems and operation and the ability to direct a staff of tradespersons in the repair and maintenance of a wide range of equipment; ability to troubleshoot and determine building issues and recommend necessary changes and to interact with other trade groups and coordinate building repairs; proficiency with scheduling and planning work and ability to manage work orders and make good sound judgments when prioritizing daily work; excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills; experience with computers systems, CMMS programs, e-mail, and the Internet; MA wastewater license or willingness to obtain a license; and demonstrated ability to manage a large PM workload in academic, office, lab, and housing buildings. PREFERRED:  bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.  Job #23910-10

Work conditions:  maneuvering in and around mechanical rooms and on rooftops; exposure to unusual noise levels, tight spaces, varied temperatures, and outside environmental conditions with no protection from the weather for short periods of time; working in research labs that contain hazardous materials; exposure to infrastructure environments such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing; moving objects weighing 10 to 20 lbs.; and traversing long distances and/or moving from site to site.

Repair and Maintenance is a 24/7 operation.  Must be available to respond to off-hour emergencies and standby supervisory coverage on a rotating basis on weekends and holidays.
