Posting Description

SENIOR ADVISOR FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, Admissions Office, reporting to the Dean of Admissions and Student Financial Services, will cultivate relationships among, and execute initiatives involving, students, alumni and other MIT community members in the admissions office’s efforts to consistently enroll a more racially and ethnically diverse first-year class; work alongside and across teams inside and outside the admissions office to develop and maintain trusted relationships with student and alumni groups, and collaborate with them to develop and improve innovative outreach and yield programs; work with other groups on and off campus to develop strategic initiatives that advance equal opportunity in K-12 STEM education; regularly communicate progress, and identify roadblocks and opportunities, through analysis, reports, presentations, and informal discussions to the dean and senior leaders; shape admissions policies and institutional strategies; read applications, participate in the admissions selection committee, and contribute to the admissions process in other select and high leverage ways.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree and at least six years of experience working in college admissions, alumni(ae) relations, communications, or a related field; excellent presentation and project management skills; ability to work with alumni(ae) and parents around sensitive issues; analytical and strategic thinking; ability to work over sustained periods; discretion; and meticulous attention to detail. PREFFERED: master’s degree; senior level experience overseeing projects and staff within a complex organization charged with multiple priorities and objectives; and experience working in highly selective college admissions. Salary range: $105,000 - 130,000, based on experience.

A hybrid schedule, with both remote and on-campus work, is available.

Regular evening and weekend work required.
