Job Description

SHIFT LEADER, EVENING MEMBER SERVICES AND OPERATIONS - ALUMNI/WANG, DAPER Recreation, will oversee the day-to-day operations at the Alumni Pool & Wang Fitness Center; responsible for ensuring facility access security and safety, supervising on-shift staff, performing registrations for memberships and recreational programs; providing towel service, serving as a secondary lifeguard, providing customer service support, and addressing operational challenges as they arise; and cross trained to work all frontline positions.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High School diploma; at least 3 years of customer service experience; American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, or an ability to obtain one within 60 days; experience with Microsoft Office; excellent verbal and written communication skills; skilled at multi-tasking while possessing a professional demeanor and attitude; team oriented and self-motivated; open and flexible to work during all operational hours at both the Alumni/Wang Center and the Zesiger Center. PREFERRED: associate or bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Operations, Recreation Management, Hospitality Management or related field; knowledge of MIT Fitness and Recreation programs; and experience with a point-of-sale system. Job #24428-5

Preliminary swim test will be conducted as part of the interview process.


Working hours: 1:30PM – 9:30PM, Monday – Friday.


Pay: $24-27/ hour, depending on relevant experience.
