Job Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 2, Office of Graduate Education, to provide comprehensive administrative support to MIT’s Graduate Diversity and Program and Policy teams. This role involves a variety of tasks including event coordination, calendar management, and general office operations such as responding to inquiries and managing communications, scheduling and coordinating events, meetings, and travel, monitoring budgets and supplies, and ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high School diploma or equivalent, three years of administrative assistant or related experience, attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills, ability to work independently and creatively within a team, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to foster a supportive environment and experience working with diverse groups; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Dropbox, and Adobe Creative Suite; ability to pack, transport, and set up event materials. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree, experience in higher education and event coordination. familiarity with MIT procedures and practices; knowledge of WordPress, Mailchimp, Mailjet, WebMoira, Slideroom, SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, and Google Calendar. Hourly Rate: $26.00 - $29.00 (depending on experience and education)

Hybrid schedule possible with manager approval.

This is a 1-year term position that is supported through 6/30/25, with possibility of extension.

Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check.
